Elias Reichel MD

Dr. Elias Reichel's areas of expertise include both medical and surgical vitreoretinal disorders. His surgical interests include surgery for macular disorders, retinal detachment, and trauma of the posterior segment. He has a special interest in hereditary retinal degenerations, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.

Dr. Reichel is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Also a member of the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Reichel is a board-certified ophthalmologist who specializes in Retina/Vitreous Surgery and Medical Retina. He attended medical school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he obtained his M.D. degree in 1986. He completed his residency at Mass Eye & Ear Infirmary. Dr. Reichel completed Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery fellowship at Tufts University/New England Med Center.

Dr. Reichel served as a Associate Professor of Ophthalmology at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Dr. Reichel is currently the Vice Chair for Research and Education, Department of Ophthalmology at New England Eye Center, Boston, MA. He is also the Director of the Vitreoretinal Diseases and Surgery Service and the Director of the Vitreoretinal Fellowship program at New England Eye Center.
