DONALD CENTNER MD
Dr. Centner's naval career began many years before his medical career. Prior to attending medical school, he served as a Naval Aviator including duties as a patrol plane and mission commander and as a flight instructor. During this time, he was deployed overseas and flew hundreds of missions in support of cold war antisubmarine operations. After attending medical school, he returned to active duty as a navy pilot and flight surgeon flying numerous missions during Operation Desert Shield/Storm.
He then completed Ophthalmology residency training. Prior to joining the Magruder Eye Institute, Dr. Centner served as a comprehensive ophthalmologist and as the Ophthalmology Department Head at the naval hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. After nearly 30 years of military service, he recently retired from the U.S. Navy at the rank of Captain.
Donald J. Centner, M.D. practices general Ophthalmology and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
He is married and has twin daughters. Dr. Centner is a welcome addition to the Magruder Eye Institute.
