Dr. Abdul-Rahim spent his early years in the San Francisco Bay area. After completing his training, he was appointed Director of Neuro-Ophthalmology and Oculoplastics Services in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock.  During his seven years at Texas Tech, as Residency Program Director, he was charged with recruiting and organizing the education of the nine ophthalmology residents in the Residency Training Program.  In 2001 was appointed Senior Consultant in Oculoplastics at the King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for two years.  He has given approximately 20 invited lectures and authored 15 scholarly publications.

Dr. Abdul-Rahim is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Texas Medical Association, Texas Ophthalmological Association and Tarrant County Medical Society.  He is a Fellow of the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society.
