Jared S Nielson MD





Jared S. Nielsen, M.D., received his bachelor of sciences degree from Brigham Young University. He then earned his masters degree in pathology and doctorate of medicine from the Chicago Medical School. Following an internship at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu, Hawaii, he completed an ophthalmology residency at Loyola University Chicago.
Dr. Nielsen completed a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, where he remains a Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology. Dr. Nielsen joined as a Wolfe Eye Clinic eye doctor in 2007.
Dr. Nielsen is an active eye care researcher and participates in clinical trials designed to provided better care to patients who suffer from sight threatening retinal diseases. He is engaged as an investigator in the Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network (DRCR.net), a National Eye Institute coordinated effort to study diabetic eye disease. He is also working on additional studies to investigate treatments for other retinal conditions including: central serous chorioretinopathy, macular degeneration, and ocular histoplasmosis.
Dr. Nielsen enjoys spending time with family and friends. He also enjoys travel and participating in outdoor activities including canoeing, golf, and fishing. He and his wife and their two sons reside in Des Moines.

I have been able to not only keep my eye sight but was able to go through cataract surgery on both eyes greatly improving my eye sight.

Dr Neilsen is good to explain results and treatment.
The wait is reasonable, sometimes shorter than others.
